You see, I told you this would take some time to get used to. I ended up posting my first post twice. But we live and we learn. So, sorry about that. But I'll keep them both there.

A New Start

This is my new blog. AOL e-mailed me today to tell me that their blog service is ending at the end of October. So I am forced to move.

AOL gave no reason for this decision. Perhaps it's true that people start their blogs with all kinds of good intentions and then get bored of them after a few weeks or months. But then this wasn't true of me. I posted to it most days, certainly two or three times a week on average. Admittedly much of it was like a kind of online diary, cataloguing my love life or the lack thereof, but I also wrote often about politics and religion and television and any number of subjects. I'm sure I shall do the same here.

So this is the new place to look if you want to know what is going on with me, and why wouldn't you. Perhaps this one, now it is more accessible, will get a regular following. I feel it deserves to. I have much to say. Feel free to disagree with me if you want to. I expect you'll almost certainly be wrong but I'm happy to put you right.

All new Blog

This is the new site for my blog. It's a good deal more complicated than my previous blog host but I suppose when I get used to it then it will be better.

My old blog, which has been in existence for about 18 months, is being discontinued from the end of October I have suddenly been informed. This is, to say the least, irritating. Perhaps it is true that most blogs are active for a short while and then die a death when people get bored of them. But this was definitively not the case for me. I posted nearly every day except when on holiday or in hospital (it's a long story). Now all of those posts will be lost to the world.

But here is an idea. I think I might publish a few of the highlights here on my new blog over the course of the next month until my old blog becomes defunct. I shall be dual posting between now and then. New posts will be available here and on my old AOL blog along with a few highlights of the old one.

I think in the long run this will be a better blog. It will just take some adjusting to.
